We do this through collecting and publishing breaking news and analysis. We provide a venue for challenging discourse on twenty first century activism. NPQ’s commitment to collective action is rooted in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - as well as in our hearts and “in the lived experience of justice and freedom seeking people around the world.

Online NPQ is a source for information and dialogue about democratic activism and about the organizations and movements that are a part of that. Online we collaborate deeply with you, our readers, both in setting our editorial agenda and in producing the dynamic mix of news, information, advice and opinion that characterize our work.
In print Nonprofit Quarterly is a serious management journal which is research based but geared to practitioner use.
Collaborative Journalism
Online NPQ is a collaborative journalism site.
NPQ chose a collaborative journalism model out of a deep respect for the intelligence and discernment of its readership and a commitment to reflect our interest in collective action in our practice as journalists.
Collaborative journalism uses information contributed by numerous individuals and organizations to build news stories and analysis. This can happen over a period of time as a story evolves and it may involve a mix of lay and professional contributors. Information may be gathered through research or reporting, or added when readers examine, comment and build upon existing stories. Stories from the mainstream media are often built upon. A single collaborative news story, therefore, may encompass multiple authors, varying articles, and ranged perspectives.
Successful collaborative journalism requires a participatory community with respect for content.
NPQ’s editorial staff curates and is available to ensure that editorial standards are met such that the site remains a high quality setting for this most serious of collective endeavors, the documentation and intellectual nourishment of a new era of citizen activism
