The de_script_ion of the board meeting portrayed a chaotic and disconnected board. The board seemed to operate in a crisis mode _base_d on the events leading up to that point. While the feeling of exasperation was justified, there was a defeatist point of view that took over. Peter seemed to have a better handle on the financial outlook of the organization. In my opinion, Laurel should have provided a crash course in finances for the other members of the board. Or, the board members should have recognized their lack of financial savvy and requested some education. The decision to close seemed extremely abrupt. If I had been Laurel, I would have taken more control over the conversation and motioned for financial research that would have forecasted the future and supplied suggestions for steps that could be taken to either revitalize or close the organization.
